The master who comes from inner space

Recording 05 of 12

Staying present while speaking of the past

The talk keeps the listener in the present while recounting the past arrival of a living master, unveiling the inner universe, the priority of feeling over knowledge, and the practical triad of possibility–opportunity–actuality that ends confusion and exposes the subtle craving for what we already have.

SUMMARY

Barry recounts how a surrendered man—'Blessed John'—served as a vehicle for the living truth. The master comes from inner space because 'I' is always within; outer forms merely reflect the one being behind the senses. The universe outside is a projection of the universe within; each star there is a point in the divine mind. The master's reflection intensifies self-knowledge without leaving the immediacy of now.

Feeling must precede knowledge; we pass through love, its pain and wonder, to reach true knowing. Machines cannot feel and thus cannot know the transcendental. Practically, one should 'live by possibilities alone': relinquish certainty, then look only for present opportunity; if opportunity is absent, drop concern and rest in actuality—what is undeniably occurring now. Finally, the root of dissatisfaction is not merely wanting what we lack, but wanting what we have, the hidden attachment that binds us to fear and loss.
