Shift from Personal Identity to Impersonal Divinity

Barry Long establishes the foundations of the teaching: God is not personal, and neither is real love, life, or truth. Only by relinquishing the emotional, thinking self does one return to the impersonal divine state of being and consciousness.

SUMMARY

Barry Long invites the audience to directly realise the impersonal creative power that is God, and see the limitations of the personal self and mind. True freedom, he says, is possible only through surrendering personal attachments and returning to pure sensation.

The talk serves as both welcome and initiation for new and returning students, establishing the necessity to unite, in intelligence and sensation, move beyond religious or scientific objectivity, and enter the living presence of God.

Listeners are guided through aspects of, the self, I, and me, and the necessity of knowing yourself.

'Everything is God being God, and the sooner you are able to realise that, the sooner you will be free.'

'There is no feeling in God. There is no warmth in God. For warmth is only of the people of the earth.'

'Pure intelligence and pure sensation are the only two realities in your life. Everything else passes away.'
